Attendees:
Jennifer Noga
Emily Williams
Don Forbes
Keith Burkhead
Stephanie Conover
--Jennifer has received positive comments on the Spring 2007 edition of the LRC newsletter. We will try to publish the newsletter each semester, including the summer semester.
--LRC’s involvement with GTCC’s 50th Anniversary celebration (coming up in 2008) was discussed. Suggestions included opening the archives and highlighting the interesting resources available in the archives. Possibly make displays, etc. Maybe have some kind of monthly GTCC history trivia contests.
--Don mentioned he was considering joining/merging the Marketing Committee and the Friends of the Library.
--The All Campus Read was also discussed. Michael Parker’s book, __Don’t Make Me Stop Now__, has been chosen for the GTCC All Campus Read. The LRC will make a display of Parker’s books and will participate in any other ways that we are needed.
--Don mentioned that the LRC should archive issues of the new student newsletter, Titan Times.
--LRC outreach to adjunct faculty was discussed. John Chapin, VP for Instruction, is very interested in this topic and is also considering ways to reach these faculty members. Currently there is no central way for adjuncts to get information regarding campus events and other news other than their GTCC Cruiser accounts or their department chairs. Debbie Fondow, president of the Faculty Association, was contacted and is encouraging of the idea of LRC staff members attending future Faculty Assoc. meetings and making presentations or handing out information about the LRC. Another suggestion made was to include LRC newsletters and other information in the new staff packets that adjuncts are given during summer workshops (Note added 3/27/07: spoke with Carolyn Schneider about those efforts, the adjunct appreciation dinner is no longer held, there is a new faculty orientation. There have been other efforts to make prof. development opportunities available to adjuncts such as a recent workshop that was held on a Saturday, she suggested that the Library be a part of these efforts and perhaps offer a one-day workshop to adjuncts - when they're next planning something like that, she will contact the Library.)
--Don approached Bill Raines about making a website for the “Internationalizing the Curriculum” events being held on campus this semester.
--The marketing committee will attempt to meet monthly from now on.
